Computer Systems Management

I arrived in Anchorage at the ripe old age of 9 months.  I grew up in the Mt. View area and owned my family home there until Nov 2007.  I now live just one mile from my old home.

I started working with computers in the spring of 1979. So this year I have 32 years of experience in the field. In that time I have worked on many different computers of varying sizes and power, and I have worked with a very wide verity of Software. While many things have changed in that time others have changed little in the 30+ years of computing.  Poorly thought out and executed systems and software can sill reek havoc on a business.

Today, I do out-call service for many of the largest firms in the World , as well as direct client work for many individuals and small firms here in Alaska.  My strongest area of computing is problem solving! It does not matter if it is a simple problem like a printer needing repair or the design and install of entire networked system of many computers and related hardware - When I leave your site everything will be working as it should.

My web work is much like this site. I go with simple well laid out designs that are highly adjustable to fit a large number of screen widths without scrolling or blank margins. I work to keep my pages as light as reasonably possible. Usually I start with a template and work out from there this keeps the cost down while providing a common page page format.  I have personal experience trying to load the average web page in places like Bethel, St. Marys,  Aniak to name a few.  I steer Clear of Flash, music and inbeded video. A site that "really Pops" but takes 3 minutes to load will lose most of its visitors long before the eye candy loads.  If your site cannot work properly on to someones Iphone, Ipad or Android device they often go away and do not comeback - so if your site is dependent on a "Windows Computer" you may be throwing away an ever increasing number of customers.
